Prayer Resources

Here are some resources to help us pray together at home. This will be updated occasionally.

Prayer Together & Compline

Every Sunday evening we host a short weekly prayer meeting together on Zoom, followed immediately by Compline (night prayer).

Pray As You Go

In their own words, Pray As You Go is “a daily prayer session, designed to go with you wherever you go, to help you pray whenever you find time.” It’s available as an App for both Apple and Android, and you can find it on their website here: https://pray-as-you-go.org/

While we were recording St James’ Radio, we often used content (with permission) from Pray As You Go. In particular we were using the reflections from the Prayer Tools section of their website, which features Ignatian-style imaginative contemplation. If you’ve never tried it, give it a go!

I Wonder…

This is a combination of Thoughts from the Prayer Corner and LiFT Online (both below), and will appear here from time to time. Following our recent series on Holy Communion at church, Laurence’s thoughts from Lent last year are available again below.

LiFT Online

During 2020 Margaret Mayer helped us to listen for God’s voice through the Scriptures, music, art, food – or anything else! You can still access those materials below:

Thoughts from the Prayer Corner

A collection of thoughts and reflections to help your in your journey with God, from Margaret Mayer.

Time to Pray

If you’re looking for a simple way to say daily prayer, then Time to Pray might be the app for you! It provides simple daily liturgy, Bible readings and prayers for Daily and Night prayer – and it’s free. You can download it for iOS and Android by following this link: www.chpublishing.co.uk/apps/time-to-pray

I will be saying morning prayer every day before 9am if you would like to join me in praying for our parish, the Church and the world. Alternatively it’s also now available as a podcast, so you can listen to it while eating breakfast!
