Thirst: Years 10-13
‘Thirst’ is a Bible study type youth group for teenagers in Years 10-13 (ages 14-18). It meets on Sunday evenings in term time from 7 pm – 8.30 pm in the upstairs room at Emmanuel Church centre in Southlake Crescent. It has run jointly by St James and Emmanuel for many years.
It’s a small friendly group that is happy to welcome new teenagers from any church or none. As well as looking at how the Bible is relevant to us today, we do lots of chatting and sometimes hold social events.
The team is led by Laurie-Ann Price (Emmanuel’s Youth Pastor) and includes Catharine Turton and Brenda Lord (St James) with occasional visits from Laurie-Ann’s husband Mark, who came with us to Satellites.
Staying Connected:
Thirst uses WhatsApp or text as a means of staying connected during the week. We consider these to be safe methods. Parents are kept informed of events via email.
Laurie-Ann offers pastoral support via WhatsApp and mentoring sessions.
If you would like to know more about the youth work please contact Laurie-Ann.
Contact details: Laurie-Ann on laurie.youthecw@gmail.com or 07517814828.
You could also speak to Catharine Turton or Brenda Lord at St James.
Upcoming events:
Satellite Summer Festival 2023:
Dates: 4-9 August 2023
Age group: 13-18 year olds (at the time of the event, not the time of booking)
Venue: the Bath and West Showground, Shepton Mallet.
The booking lines are now open for this event. You would need to add your name to our group so it’s best to contact Laurie-Ann first.
For an action view of Satellites, see their video: https://vimeo.com/739906838
You may also like to visit the Soul Survivor Church in Watford. Their Saturday evening meetings are similar to those at other Christian youth festivals. This can give you the opportunity to glimpse what a trip to Satellites would be like.
