Do great things for God: Queen Elizabeth II

We started this series back in May and in light of Queen Elizabeth’s death it seemed appropriate to share the resources again and remember the amazing woman of God she was. Her years of faithful service earned her the title of The Servant Queen. She spoke often about her faith in God. A truly inspiring woman.

May be an image of 1 person and text that says "Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth Il 1926- 2022 THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND"

Gracious God, we give thanks for the life of your servant Queen Elizabeth, for her faith and her dedication to duty. Bless our nation as we mourn her death and may her example continue to inspire us; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Some questions to think about together

  • If you met the Queen, what question you would ask her?
  • Queen Elizabeth has served the people for 70 years, I wonder how you could serve others, I wonder how you could serve God….

Activities and crafts

Chain of helping hands

You will need:

  • paper
  • pens
  • scissors
  • glue
  • large piece of card

On a sheet of paper draw round your hands carefully and cut them out. Can you join them together with other hands from the rest of the family and stick them on the card. Try and make a circle or chain of hands all linked together.

We can use our hands to help others. When we pray, we can ask God to help us be God’s hands and feet in the world. We can all help in different ways and God can bless others through us.

You will need: a piece of paper, pens, scissors

  • Fold the paper as shown in the picture.
  • Line your hand up with the thumb and first finger on the fold of the paper.
  • Draw round your hand carefully.
  • Cut out your hand.
  • Open out the hand to reveal a heart in the centre

When we serve we are remembering that Jesus came not to be served but to serve: Mark 10:45.

How can you serve this week?
