Draw near to God: Sunday 6th Feb

Today we’re looking at James 4. There is a fantastic verse right in the middle of the chapter which says this:

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

James 4:8

I wonder what you think that means…

Have a chat together as a family and see what you all think.

Our video today reminds us that God created us to be close to him.

How can we draw close to God?

I suppose it’s a bit like getting to know your best friend. You spend time with them, you talk to them, you do things together, you listen to them…..

I wonder what that looks like with God?

Activities to explore together

Word search

Jesus has promised always to be with us – wherever we go: at school, work, on holiday, when we move house, or move to another country……

Sometimes we don’t feel God is very close to us. God has made so many promises in the bible about being with us …maybe you could find some together and write them up somewhere at home to remind everyone that God is with you

Colour and cut out Jesus. You can pop him in a book, in a bag to remind you that he is always with you.

Choose a different colour for each number… can you find Jesus?

Today we are remembering how much Jesus loves us and how he showed that by dying for us on the cross. At church we remember this when we share communion together.

Can you work out what it says under the bread and wine?

Song

We can draw close to God singing and dancing….
