After a couple of months being able to see each other and even managing to have messy church back in the church building… we’re back online again..
The days are getting shorter and its getting darker earlier and earlier. Its at this time of year I love looking at the different lights people have around their homes.. little lanterns in the window, fairy lights in a bedroom window, solar powered lights lighting the way up the garden path, security lights that come on if there is any nearby movement, and of course, as you look up, the amazing display of stars shining brightly. Did you know that Light is the fastest thing in the world? It travels at 300,000 km per sec which means that light can reach the moon in about 1.2 sec. (I’m sure there was a Big Bang episode all about that???)
So this month we’re looking at light and in particular the fact that Jesus says in Matt 5:14 ‘You are the light of the world’ – that’s you and me!! We represent his light and need to keep shining the light.
All the crafts for this month are on this pdf. The templates for activities follow the pdf doc.

Jesus said:
14 “You are the light that gives light to the world. A city that is built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 And people don’t hide a light under a bowl. They put it on a lampstand so the light shines for all the people in the house. 16 In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and will praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5: 14-16
Some questions to think about together:
- what things stand out to you?
- what things don’t you understand?
- what are you going to do as a result of this passage?
Use the time you spend colouring to…
Talk about:
What/ who is the strongest thing/ person you know?
Why is light important and useful?
How can God/ people be like light for others?
What does it mean for someone to save us?
How do you think God saves us?
What makes you afraid?
What helps you when you are afraid?
Have you ever asked God to help you?
Pray
As you colour, pray for people who are afraid and ask God to help them and save them. Children might want to ask God to help them with specific fears.
