Winter Concert – December 2015

Winter Concert – December 2015

Publicised as ‘An Evening of Sparkling Entertainment’, it certainly lived up to its billing! A cultured audience of 150 listened to The Jewel Tones, a girls’ choir from Charvil, in the first half and to piano solos from pupils of Andy Mullens in the second half.

The Jewel Tones gave us a program of solos, duets and ensemble items, all confidently delivered off by heart, with their founder and conductor Suzanne Newman linking the items with anecdotes and background notes. It was lovely to see the enjoyment that the girls gain from their singing.

The pianists in the second half performed with assurance, giving us music from a wide variety of composers and style. There were pieces from Bach, writing before the piano was invented, to Einaudi, today’s popular choice. There was something for everyone in the appreciative audience.

The concert raised £764 for the Roof Fund. Thank you to all those who took part or attended.
