Hinton Ampner – August 2018
This year our joint outing saw us visit Hinton Ampner, a National Trust house, gardens and estate near Alresford in Hampshire, on 14th August. We numbered a combined 20 men and women, most from our regular walking groups but also including several friends and family members too. The estate offers four walks of varying distance and interest and we chose the Dutton Estate walk of 4 miles, a stile free mix of open countryside, shaded woodland, & affording excellent views. An overcast start soon became warm sunshine and the final incline back to the house left us ready for refreshments.
We lunched at the busy Cafe where a variety of food was on offer, most of us were able to obtain hot food but the choice diminished as the long queue was served.
After lunch there was time to visit the house, gardens, and shop before returning home.
