Whiteleaf & Pulpit Hill – August 2017
For our joint outing this year we ventured north into Buckinghamshire on 1st August to visit Whiteleaf. This small village is close to Monks Risborough. We numbered 18 of varying abilities so rather than climbing the steep Whiteleaf Hill we parked all but one car at the top and walked down.
Initially taking in the view of Monks Risborough below us and towards Aylesbury 8 miles away the 3.5mile circular route took us via some shady woodland (where our navigating briefly failed us!), and Pulpit Hill, eventually crossing a fairway at Whiteleaf Golf Club to finish at the excellent Red Lion. Here our pre-ordered lunch was efficiently served and soon devoured. And good it was too. After ferrying the drivers back uphill to their cars we were soon on our way home.
