Scottish Evening – January 2018

A wee taste o’Scotland

Bring out your tartans we said and you did! Pete and Chris Clarke used your rugs and their artistic skills to transform St James into a Scottish Baronial Hall. 68 people arrived wearing an interesting assortment of tartan garments.

The freshly caught haggis was ably addressed by Chris Roxburgh, leaving us in no doubt as to its superiority over other dishes. However, Sassenach (English) sausages were preferred by some.  The deliciously wicked Cranachan dessert was more widely enjoyed. And of course, it was all washed down with Irn Bru. Our thanks go to the excellent team of chefs, Irene Parker, Jeanette Mooney, and Linda Henderson.

Entertainment came in the form of William’s mini Highland Games, Alison’s Call my bluff on Scottish words and singing ably led by Fiona Roxburgh.

Thank you to all who helped and all who came to make the evening a great success.
