Update – 21/03/20

Good morning St James’!

I hope that you are all beginning to feel more grounded in our new circumstances. Thank you for your patience while we’re been getting things ready for this weekend. If you’ve been onto our church website recently, you’ll have noticed that it is being completely redesigned for the duration of the outbreak. We’ve removed all our events and groups that are currently suspended in order to keep the site clutter free. At this point, I would like to highlight two brand new pages:

Worship at Home
On this page, there will be a new service of worship for us all to share together in every Sunday morning! It will follow the format of our regular acts of worship – including prayers, sung worship, Scripture and a sermon. I would love to encourage everyone to access this at 10:30am on Sunday so that we can pray and worship at the same time, but if that’s not possible it will be available from tonight so that you can find a time that best suits you and your family.

You can find the worship page here:

St James’ Radio
The other major new addition to the website will be the launch of a weekly radio-style show at 10am on Wednesday mornings. This will be another chance for us to stay connected as a church, and an opportunity to pray and hear God’s Word together. Each week I hope to be able to share any big news from the church family, so please email me with anything you’d like read out!

I will also have a special guest from St James’ on to chat. My first guest will be Dan Penny, who will be talking to us about some exciting new developments about the way that we’ll be doing church online in the future. More information on this to follow in the coming week.

You can find the radio page here: https://stjameswoodley.org/sj-radio/

…and finally, this is only the first week of many where we will need to redefine our worship together. Rest assured that we will be working to improve, simplify, and diversify what we offer each week. I’m trying to keep things as simple as possible for the time being so that we all have the chance to adapt to these changes.

I look forward to worshipping with you all tomorrow at 10:30!
Have a blessed Mothering Sunday,

Laurence

12 For this is what the Lord says:
‘I will extend peace to her like a river,
    and the wealth of nations like a flooding stream;
you will feed and be carried on her arm
    and dandled on her knees.
13 As a mother comforts her child,
    so will I comfort you;
    and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.’
– Isaiah 66:12-13
